Aikido is a highly refined style of Japanese jiu-jutsu that emphasizes integration rather than fighting. Brazilian Jiu-jitsu (BJJ) is a highly advanced variant of Japanese jiu-jitsu that focuses on grappling. You will discover how these skills fit together from two of the finest professors in their respective arts on this instructional DVD. Derek Nakagawa is a 4th degree black belt and a 30+ year martial arts veteran on the aikido side. On the BJJ side, we have Marcio Feitosa, a 3rd degree black belt, famous competitor, and master instructor at Gracie Barra, the world’s largest jiu-jitsu school.
Derek demonstrates the conventional aikido defense, beginning with traditional aikido assaults. The attacker is then given the opportunity to resist or counter the technique, which sets up the jiu-jitsu phase of the technique. In this instructional DVD, Marcio and Derek show you how to easily transition from aikido stand up to jiu-jitsu groundwork.
