Psy.D. Chelsea Mackey Related seminars and products: 1Chelsea Mackey, Psy.D., has spent the last 14 years treating people suffering from psychosis, hearing voices, spiritual crises, and extreme beliefs in a variety of settings. Dr. Mackey is a former lead psychologist at Kaiser Permanente’s outpatient psychiatry department Thought Disorder Program in Northern California and is now in private practice primarily treating this demographic. She is a member of the International Society for Psychological and Social Approaches to Psychosis (ISPS) and has spoken at national conferences in Boston and Portland, as well as international conferences in Liverpool and Rotterdam.
Dr. Mackey earned her master’s degree in psychology from the University of Indianapolis’ Athens Campus and her doctorate from Alliant International University in Fresno, California. Her dissertation was a grounded theory titled: What do African American families need to know in order to make informed treatment decisions about a family member with schizophrenia? She has received training as a Hearing Voices Network Facilitator and provides a free group in her community, as well as family support groups, as part of her therapy strategy. Dr. Mackey also consults with therapists on coping with severe states and has participated in teaching therapists to work more successfully with individuals experiencing psychosis.
