Would the Buddha, Saint Theresa, or an enlightened shaman need to do some significant spiritual catching up if they strolled into the room today? Ken Wilber believes the answer is yes. In this video teaching series, viewers will learn about the significant ways spirituality is changing today and why it is important to all of us.
Integral evolutionary theorists are currently witnessing a burst of accelerated alterations in human consciousness: in our emotional and cognitive abilities, our creative and moral powers, our sense of self, and more. And as the landscape of knowledge expands, so does the possibility of our own spiritual lives—in ways that meditation and other introspective disciplines cannot.
What is the proof supporting our spiritual intelligence’s rising spiral? And, if this is true, how can we personally sense these alterations within ourselves?
The Future of Spirituality delves into these new possibilities to help you understand their enormous impact on your own life and the world around you.
This open, heartfelt talk between Ken Wilber and host Tami Simon focuses on how spirituality is changing right now and why it important to everyone on a meditative or contemplative spiritual path.
Join Ken Wilbe in these small and energetic video sessions as he goes deeply into a variety of fascinating topics, such as:
“Spirit wants to grow,” says the essence of holistic spirituality.
Waking up and maturing are two independent and necessary processes.
The two elements of spiritual development are freedom and completeness.
Our deepest inner experiences are shaped by our location in history and society.
How Western psychology and science are altering spirituality
Is it true that all roads lead to the same place?
There are five levels of consciousness: gross, subtle, casual, witness, and non-dual.
Who needs tiers and hierarchies if the Divine is formless and infinite?
Enlightenment as a developmental step rather than an event
Reincarnation and the afterlife
The form of things to come: spiritual levels still to emerge
“The enlightened person now and the enlightened person 2,000 years ago are equally free,” argues Ken Wilber. But, for the first time in human history, we now have the opportunity to have a considerably more wider, richer spiritual experience than ever before. This is the terrain that The Future of Spirituality invites you to explore.
What’s on the inside?
The First Truth: Emptiness and the Evolutionary Unfolding of Form
The series starts with an explanation of the two facts. The great mystics found absolute truth, the world of formless nothingness and oneness with the divine, nearly 2,000 years ago. Relative truth, or our comprehension of our thoughts and surroundings, has only lately advanced, in the last 200 years. Ken contends in this session that a genuine spirituality necessitates the acceptance of both absolute and relative truth.

Session 2: Awakening and Growing
All spiritual pathways, according to the holistic evolutionary perspective, have two dimensions: waking up and growing up. Ken describes both in this article. First, he discusses how we awaken into ever-deepening levels of consciousness (the gross, subtle, causal, witness, and non-dual realms) and guides us through the identification of these five states. Then he explains the stages of spiritual development that occur in the persistent, structural realms.
Session 3: Enlightenment’s Freedom and Fullness
Ken offers a comprehensive description of enlightenment here. He illustrates how the two notions of waking up and growing up are represented in the process of awakening: in the widening freedom we feel as we progress through the primary states of consciousness, and in the increasing fullness we experience as we create new stages of structure. Ken also discusses how our stage development influences how we understand the mystical states we encounter in meditative and contemplative practice.
Is Enlightenment Really All That It’s Cracked Up To Be?
Ken shows how our idea of intelligence has evolved from the early concept of a single IQ to one of various intelligences: emotional, moral, kinesthetic, musical, mathematical, spiritual, and others. Each of these lines gives up the possibility of distinct areas of growth—and influences our spiritual evolution in its own way.
Session 5: What Is Most Important?
Our spiritual intelligence answers the fundamental question: What is of ultimate concern? Ken and Tami discuss why first-person experience is so important for spiritual intelligence, how our identity persists even when we touch the ultimate and formless foundation of pure existence, and what secrets human awareness may never discover. Ken also discusses his personal thoughts on what occurs after we die and the case for reincarnation.
Session 6: Spirituality in the Future
Ken and Tami tie together the series’ wide-ranging subjects of discussion in this concluding dialogue, with an emphasis on how to put our fast development of outside information and scientific understanding into practical use on our own spiritual walks. Ken outlines the benefits of being a dual spiritual citizen: practicing within a time-tested spiritual tradition while remaining open to new discoveries…
